Genesis 39, Zephaniah 1, Psalms 25, & Proverbs 14

My prayer is that you read and study these devotional passages with me in an earnest desire to seek the Lord (Phil)

You must seek the Lord to walk in His way

“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”

Proverbs 14:12 (KJV)

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understandingIn all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV)

Sometimes when God calls us to deliver His message somewhere, He may leave it up to us to listen and go or, sometimes He will directly send us in His desired way

Genesis 37:28 (KJV), “Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt.”

Genesis 39:1 (KJV), “And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither.”

Genesis 12:10 (KJV), “And there was a famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine was grievous in the land.”

Genesis 39:3 (KJV), And his master saw that the Lord was with him, and that the Lord made all that he did to prosper in his hand.”

Genesis 39:8-9 (KJV), But he refused, and said unto his master’s wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand; There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back anything from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?

The prophecy of Zephaniah is similar to that of God’s spoken words to Hosea

Zephaniah 1:3 (KJV), “I will consume man and beast; I will consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumbling blocks with the wicked: and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the Lord.”

Hosea 4:3 (KJV), “Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.”

Zephaniah 1:4-6 (KJV), I will also stretch out mine hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarims with the priests; And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship and that swear by the Lord, and that swear by Malcham; And them that are turned back from the Lord; and those that have not sought the Lord, nor enquired for him.”

John 12:48 (KJV), “He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.”

Matthew 10:33 (KJV), “But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.”

1 Timothy 4:1 (KJV), “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.”

Jude 5-6 (KJV), I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.  And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.”

Zephaniah 1:14-16 (KJV), 14 The great day of the Lord is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the Lord: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.  15 That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, 16 A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.”

Isaiah 7:18-25 (KJV), 18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall hiss for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria.  19 And they shall come, and shall rest all of them in the desolate valleys, and in the holes of the rocks, and upon all thorns, and upon all bushes.  20 In the same day shall the Lord shave with a razor that is hired, namely, by them beyond the river, by the king of Assyria, the head, and the hair of the feet: and it shall also consume the beard.  21 And it shall come to pass in that day, that a man shall nourish a young cow, and two sheep; 22 And it shall come to pass, for the abundance of milk that they shall give he shall eat butter: for butter and honey shall every one eat that is left in the land.  23 And it shall come to pass in that day, that every place shall be, where there were a thousand vines at a thousand silverlings, it shall even be for briers and thorns.  24 With arrows and with bows shall men come thither; because all the land shall become briers and thorns.  25 And on all hills that shall be digged with the mattock, there shall not come thither the fear of briers and thorns: but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the treading of lesser cattle.”

Psalm 25:4-5 (KJV), Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths.  Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.”

Psalm 25:12-14 (KJV), 12 What man is he that feareth the Lord? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.  13 His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth.  14 The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.”

Proverbs 14:2 (KJV), “He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the Lord: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.”

Proverbs 14:6 (KJV), “A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth.”

Revelation 7:17 (KJV), “For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.”
