THE THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
‘Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me’
This is actually just the opposite of what the bible teaches us
“27 He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit. 28 Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.”
Proverbs 17:27-28 (KJV)
Matthew 17
Jesus was both God and man during His ministry on earth. For the most part, He manifested Himself as a man:
Philippians 2:7 (KJV), “But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men.”
He drew a veil over the glory of his godhead; but now, in his transfiguration, he put by that veil, appeared metamorphoó—in the form of God, and gave his disciples a glimpse of his glory, which could not but change his form.
Matthew 17:1-2 (KJV), “And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, 2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.”
Philippians 2:6 (KJV), “Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God.”
The great truth which we declare, is, that God is light
1 John 1:5 (KJV), “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.”
He dwells in the light
1 Timothy 6:16 (KJV), “Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.”
He covers himself with light
Psalm 104:2 (KJV), “Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain.”
Therefore when Christ would appear in the form of God, he appeared in light, the most glorious of all visible beings
Matthew 17:1-2 (KJV), “And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.”
Jesus called the people among them ‘perverse’…why? Let’s explain
Matthew 17:17 (KJV), “Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.”
Prior to this, at the beginning of the Beatitudes, Jesus told the multitudes to ‘repent’
Repent
Strong’s Concordance (3340) – metanoeó: to change one’s mind or purpose. Thayer’s Greek Lexicon – to change one’s mind for the better, heartily to amend with abhorrence of one’s past sins.
To literally ‘change directions, make a U-turn’
To turn away from the ‘perverse’ generation we are born into
Daniel 10 Vision of the Glorious Man
Jeremiah 32
The king of Judah at the time, Zedekiah, imprisoned Jeremiah for prophesizing Juda’s capture
Jeremiah 32:2 (KJV), “For then the king of Babylon’s army besieged Jerusalem: and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the prison, which was in the king of Judah’s house.”
Jeremiah was so close to God he understood God’s lovingkindness, righteousness…
Jeremiah 32:18-22 (KJV), “18 Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the Lord of hosts, is his name, 19 Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings: 20 Which hast set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even unto this day, and in Israel, and among other men; and hast made thee a name, as at this day; 21 And hast brought forth thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with great terror; 22 And hast given them this land, which thou didst swear to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey.”
And judgement
Jeremiah 32:23 (KJV), “23 And they came in, and possessed it; but they obeyed not thy voice, neither walked in thy law; they have done nothing of all that thou commandedst them to do: therefore thou hast caused all this evil to come upon them.”
Jeremiah’s prophecy of Israel being restored
Jeremiah 32:37-40 (KJV), “37 Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, whither I have driven them in mine anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely: 38 And they shall be my people, and I will be their God: 39 And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me forever, for the good of them, and of their children after them: 40 And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.”

Ezekiel 30 Egypt and Her Allies Will Fall
God told Ezekiel that not only Israel (and Judah) will fall to Babylon but also Egypt and its allies
Ezekiel 30:3-5 (KJV), “3 For the day is near, even the day of the Lord is near, a cloudy day; it shall be the time of the heathen. 4 And the sword shall come upon Egypt, and great pain shall be in Ethiopia, when the slain shall fall in Egypt, and they shall take away her multitude, and her foundations shall be broken down. 5 Ethiopia, and Libya, and Lydia, and all the mingled people, and Chub, and the men of the land that is in league, shall fall with them by the sword.”
Ezekiel 30:6 (KJV), “Thus saith the Lord; They also that uphold Egypt shall fall; and the pride of her power shall come down: from the tower of Syene shall they fall in it by the sword, saith the Lord God.”
Ezekiel 30:10 (KJV), “Thus saith the Lord God; I will also make the multitude of Egypt to cease by the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon.”
