THE THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Silence to a fool is golden
“In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.”
Proverbs 10:19 (KJV)
Matthew 15
Definitive statements of the New Covenant replacing the Old
The Old Covenant is replaced by, Jesus Christ, The New Covenant, as prophesized to the Jews by Jeremiah
Jeremiah 31:31 (KJV), “Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah.”
“6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. 7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second [covenant]. 8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: 9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. 10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: 11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. 13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.”
Hebrews 8:6-13 (KJV)
The old law, written in Leviticus, required those to wash their hands before eating as a cleansing
Leviticus 15:11 (KJV), “And whomsoever he toucheth that hath the issue, and hath not rinsed his hands in water, he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.”
So, no wonder why the Jewish leaders were shocked when Jesus’ disciples did not wash their hands before eating
Matthew 15:2 (KJV), “Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.”
Abolishing the Old Law’s law of what to eat and what not to eat, Jesus told us all that it’s not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person but what comes out of the mouth, your words
Matthew 15:10-11 (KJV), “10 And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand: 11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.”
The New Covenant established by Jesus will take the old law that limited the opportunity to enter the House of God only to the priests to now, prophesized by Ezekiel, by the baptism of Jesus, God will be within us, the new temple of God
Ezekiel 36:25-27 (KJV), “25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you [THE BAPTISM OF JESUS], and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. 26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.”
Jesus compares the Jews to the children and the Gentiles as dogs
Matthew 15:26 (KJV), “But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.”
Matthew 15:26 (NASB1995), “And He answered and said, “It is not [a]good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”
The woman, whose faith was deep in Jesus, responded and said
Matthew 15:27-28 (KJV), “27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs [the Gentiles] eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table. 28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.”
Even the Gentiles had heard the Truth
Daniel 8
The visions that Daniel saw in this dream was a vision of end times
Daniel 8:16-17 (KJV), “16 And I heard a man’s voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision. 17 So he came near where I stood: and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision.”
Daniel 8:19 (KJV), “And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be.”
