THE THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Do not allow the world to blind you – allow God to remove the scales over your eyes
“27 And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou son of David, have mercy on us. 28 And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. 29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. 30 And their eyes were opened.”
Matthew 9:27-30 (KJV)
Matthew 9
Jesus presents the gospel through His miracles
Often times we come to a point in our lives where we are ‘stuck’ and need Jesus’ help to direct our steps
Matthew 9:2 (KJV), “And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.”
Palsy
Strong’s Concordance (3885) – paralutikos: paralytic. Thayer’s Greek Lexicon – paralytic, i. e. suffering from the relaxing of the nerves of one side; universally, disabled, weak of limb (A. V. palsied, sick of the palsy).
Until we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are dead in our sins
Matthew 9:18-19 (KJV), “18 While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live. 19 And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples.”
Matthew 9:24-25 (KJV), “24 He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn. 25 But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose.”
Daniel 2
Jesus told us to not allow our anxiousness to weary us and to give our anxieties to Him
Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV), “6 Be careful [anxious] for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
God used Daniel to release the anxieties that Nebuchadnezzar had
Daniel 2:3 (KJV), “And the king said unto them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit was troubled to know the dream.”
Do not be of this world as this will contribute to your anxiousness
Romans 12:2 (KJV), “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
Daniel 2:10-11 (KJV), “10 The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can shew the king’s matter: therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean. 11 And it is a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none other that can shew it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.”
Allow God to give you rest and give all of the glory to Him
Daniel 2:19-20 (KJV), “19 Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven. 20 Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his.”
Daniel 2:27-28 (KJV), “27 Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king; 28 But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these.”
Jeremiah 24
The analogy of the rotten fig tree
Jeremiah 24:2-3 (KJV), “2 One basket had very good figs, even like the figs that are first ripe: and the other basket had very naughty figs, which could not be eaten, they were so bad. 3 Then said the Lord unto me, What seest thou, Jeremiah? And I said, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the evil, very evil, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil.”
The comparison
Mark 11:13-14 (KJV), “13 And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find anything thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet. 14 And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter forever. And his disciples heard it.”
Mark 11:21-22 (KJV), “21 And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away. 22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.”
Proverbs 25 Read
As the kings after Solomon so copied and read the proverbs of Solomon, so should we
Proverbs 25:1 (KJV), “These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.”
