THE THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

God promises a great gift for His acceptance and devotion, and with faith comes devotion. Continuing your daily life keeping God at the forefront yields His continued gifting to you. We should (must) make it our goal not just for the greatest gift of mankind but in the effort of the desire to please Him. His happiness and grace to us is a better gift than anyone could ask for.
1 John 5
1 John 5:1 (KJV), “Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.”
The name ‘Jesus Christ’ is not just His name, as if ‘John Smith’, but, more correctly, Jesus The Christ. Jesus The Christ is not just more correct but elevates Him far and beyond all mankind as The Messiah.
Christ – Strong’s Concordance (5547) – Christos: the Anointed One, Messiah, Christ.
Remember what the Samaritan woman said at the well when she discovered who Jesus was
John 4:25 (KJV), “The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.”
The Greek translation of Messiah is Khristós (Χριστός),[8] anglicized as Christ. It occurs 41 times in the Septuagint and 529 times in the New Testament.
When Jesus was gifted to us, He came to fulfill the old covenant law and give us His new covenant and His new commandment and law.
1 John 5:2 (KJV), “By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.”
Matthew 22:36-40 (KJV), “36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”
There is no doubt that Jesus is God!
1 John 5:7 (KJV), “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.”
When the Pharisees accused Jesus of being of the devil, in His reply He said
Matthew 12:31 (KJV), “Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.”
John also penned the book of Revelation where he talks about the two deaths we face. Here, John is referring to our physical death
1 John 5:16 (KJV), “If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.”
The gift of God is eternal life, Heaven is life
Romans 6:23 (KJV), “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Paul’s ministry was and is reaching out the new Christians and often refers to detestable sins.
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (KJV), “9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”
Our physical death represents our first death, but our spiritual death is what John calls the second death.
Revelation 20:14 (KJV), “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.”
Revelation 21:8 (KJV), “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
All of this to say that in 1 John 5, he was and is referring to our physical death
Definitive sin is that sin that perpetuates in a person, this is not repented sin. That is, when we are bound by Jesus, the wicked one may not touch us, namely, to death.
1 John 5:18 (KJV), “We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.”
Why does Paul, James, and Peter tell us not to be of this world?
1 John 5:19 (KJV), “And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.”
