God chose

Acts 15:7-9 (KJV), And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.  And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.”

James spoke the prophecy of Amos that anyone can be saved

Sexual immorality will NOT enter the kingdom of God

There is a lot of false doctrine among believers

The law is for the ungodly

1 Timothy 1:8-11 (KJV), But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; 11 According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.”

Paul states that no one is too horrible and cannot be saved

In Greek mythology, Hermes (the Romans knew him as Mercury), the son of Zeus and Maia, was the messenger of the gods and the mediator between the realm of the dead and the kingdom of the living.

Acts 14:19 (KJV), “And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.”

The kingdom of God is here on earth

Acts 14:22 (KJV), “Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.”

The kingdom is here and everywhere. The kingdom of God comes to life whenever people of faith gather and call for God’s help. The kingdom of God is near if only we call out to the God who already reigns over us.

2 Thessalonians 3

Warning Against Idleness

2 Thessalonians 3:6 (KJV), “Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.”

You can reprimand a person who does not follow Christ thoroughly

Pressing arguments to enforce this invitation

Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.  Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people.”

A promise of the success of this invitation among the Gentiles

Isaiah 55:5 (KJV), “Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee because of the Lord thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee.”

God’s ways are much higher than ours

Isaiah 55:8-9 (KJV), For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Once God says it, it will be accomplished

That the promises of God shall all have their full accomplishment in due time, and not one iota or tittle of them shall fail.

Why does the NKJV capitalize the enemy?

Paul declares the hard truth about the unbelievers

Again, you are chosen by God

2 Thessalonians 2:13 (KJV), “But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth.”

Sovereignty and Prayer: In Acts 12 we move from a time of famine to a time of feast and celebration. During the post-Passover celebration called the Days of Unleavened Bread.

Chag HaMatztot, the seven day Feast of Unleavened Bread which begins on Erev Passover, is a week of sanctification, being especially set apart for God, to be holy as he is holy. It is a time for putting away leaven or hametz and keeping it out of lives.

Herod did not give glory to God

2 Thessalonians 1

Proverbs 15:28 (KJV), “The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.”

Isaiah 53

This chapter is so replenished with the unsearchable riches of Christ that it may be called rather the gospel of the evangelist Isaiah than the prophecy of the prophet Isaiah.

We may observe here, I. The reproach of Christ’s sufferings—the meanness of his appearance, the greatness of his grief, and the prejudices which many conceived in consequences against his doctrine.

Isaiah 53:1-3 (KJV), “Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?  For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.  He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.”

The rolling away of this reproach, and the stamping of immortal honour upon his sufferings, notwithstanding the disgrace and ignominy of them, by four considerations:

  1. That therein he did his Father’s will

  • That thereby he made atonement for the sin of man.

Isaiah 53:5 (KJV), “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

Isaiah 53:8 (KJV), “He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.”

Isaiah 53:11-12 (KJV), 11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.  12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.”

Isaiah 53:9 (KJV), “And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.”

  • That he bore his sufferings with an invincible and exemplary.

Isaiah 53:7 (KJV), “He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.”

  • That he should prosper in his undertaking, and his sufferings should end in his immortal honour.

The contempt the Jews put upon the gospel of Christ. The unbelief of the Jews in our Savior’s time is expressly said to be the fulfilling of this word.
